Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 17th July 2025
These terms set out the basis on which I, Ian Campbell Smith, offer my services as a civil funeral celebrant. By engaging my services, you agree to these terms. I aim to work with clarity, compassion, and professionalism throughout.

1. Services Provided
I offer bespoke civil funeral ceremonies, memorial services, and ash scattering ceremonies. Every ceremony is written individually, based on conversations with you and the information you provide.
You can choose a religious, non-religious, or blended ceremony - I will support your wishes with care and respect.

2. Fees and Payment
Fees will be agreed in advance, either directly with you or through your chosen funeral director. In most cases, my fee is included in the funeral director’s invoice and paid by them on your behalf.
If you engage me privately, I may request payment in advance or issue an invoice with payment terms.

3. Cancellations and Changes
I understand that plans can change during times of grief. If a ceremony is cancelled or rescheduled, please let me know as soon as possible. I will always do my best to accommodate changes.
In the rare event that I am unable to conduct the ceremony due to illness or emergency, I will inform you promptly and help arrange a suitable alternative celebrant.

4. Accuracy of Information
To write a meaningful and accurate ceremony, I rely on the information you provide. Please ensure that stories, names, dates, and other details are correct. Draft tributes will be shared with you for review and approval before the ceremony.

5. Use of Content
The ceremony script is written specifically for your service and will not be shared or reused elsewhere. If you'd like a keepsake copy of the tribute or ceremony, I’m happy to provide one.

6. Privacy and Confidentiality
Any personal or sensitive information you share with me will be treated in confidence. I am fully GDPR-compliant - for more details, please see my Privacy Policy.

7. Photography and Testimonials
I will never publish photos or personal details from a ceremony without your express permission. If you kindly choose to provide a testimonial, I may display this on my website or printed materials with your consent.

8. Professional Standards
I am a qualified civil celebrant, a member of the Association of Independent Celebrants, fully insured, and DBS checked. I adhere to their professional code of conduct and commit to delivering every ceremony with respect, empathy, and reliability.
